Heavy Mechanical General Techniques and Standards - Part 4: Iron Casting
1 Scope
This part of JB/T 5000 specifies the technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules, marks and certification of iron castings.
This part is applicable to grey iron castings, spherical graphite iron castings and heat resistant iron castings which are poured by sand mold or casting mold whose thermal conduction is similar to the sand mold in the heavy machinery.

3 Technical Requirements
3.1 Grade, Chemical Composition and Mechanical Property of Iron Castings
3.1.1 Grade and mechanical property of the grey iron castings shall be in accordance with those specified in GB/T 9439. Chemical composition shall be determined by the supplier, but it shall live up to the grades and corresponding mechanical property indexes specified in GB/T 9439. In case of any special requirement from the buyers, it shall be determined by the supplier and buyer through negotiation.
3.1.2 Grade and mechanical property of the spherical graphite iron castings shall be in accordance with those specified in GB/T 1348. Chemical composition shall be determined by the supplier, but it shall live up to the grades and corresponding mechanical property indexes specified in GB/T 1348. In case of any special requirement from the buyers, it shall be determined by the supplier and buyer through negotiation.
3.1.3 Grade, chemical composition and mechanical property of the heat resistant iron castings shall be in accordance with those specified in GB/T 9437.
3.2 Dimensional Tolerances and Distribution of Tolerance Zone
3.2.1 Dimensional tolerances of castings shall be in accordance with those specified in GB/T 6414. See Table 1 for common grade codes and tolerances. The same tolerance grade shall be selected for the same casting. The tolerance grades shall be selected according to the basic dimensions of the rough castings.
