1 Subject Contents and Application Scope
This standard specifies model classification, technical requirements, test methods and inspection rules for stainless Steel covered electrodes.
This standard is applicable to stainless steel covered electrodes for manual arc welding. The chromium content in such electrode deposited metal shall be greater than 10.50% while the ferrum content shall exceed any other element.

3 Model Classification
3.1 The model of electrodes may be classified according to chemical composition of metal deposit, type of electrode coating, welding position as well as category of welding current. See Table 1 and Table 2.
3.2 Model specification
The letter "E" refers to electrodes and the number following "E" shows the classification code of chemical composition in deposited metal; in case of chemical composition with special requirements, it will be expressed by its element symbol following the number. The two numbers following the short dash "-" indicate type of electrode coating, welding position and category of welding current.
