GB/T 7190.1-2018 Mechanical draft cooling towers - Part 1: Medium and small open cooling towers
1 Scope
This part of GB/T 7190 specifies the product classification and designation, requirements, test methods, inspection rules, as well we marking, packaging, transportation, storage and others of medium and small open cooling towers.
This part is applicable to counter-flow and cross-flow mechanical draft open cooling towers with single tower cooling water volume less than 1,000 m3/h and equipped with fill.

3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the following terms and definitions apply.
3.1
mechanical draft open cooling tower
equipment or device that adopts forced ventilation by fan and direct contact between cooling water and air for heat exchange, so as to transfer the heat of cooling water to the atmosphere
3.2
fill depth
horizontal distance between the two end faces of air inlet and outlet of each side fill of cross-flow cooling tower, excluding the inlet air regulation and water collection sections
3.3
air/water ratio
ratio of inlet dry air mass flow rate (kg/h) to inlet cooling water mass flow rate (kg/h)
3.4
thermal performance curves
relation curve between number of transfer units of cooling tower and air/water ratio
3.5
standard working conditions
unified working conditions for evaluating the performance of cooling towers, including inlet air dry-wet bulb temperature, atmospheric pressure, inlet-outlet water temperature
3.6
nominal cooling water flow rate
manufacturer's nominal cooling water flow rate, m3/h, under standard working conditions of cooling tower
3.7
standard cooling water flow rate
cooling water flow rate, m3/h, of cooling tower under standard working conditions
3.8
cooling capacity
calculating results of cooling performance of cooling tower, i.e. the ratio of the temperature difference between the inlet-outlet water obtained through conversion to the temperature difference between the inlet-outlet water under standard working conditions, or the ratio of the standard cooling water flow rate of the cooling tower to the nominal cooling water flow rate, expressed by percentage
3.9
measuring noise standard point
measuring point located 1.5m above the top surface of the foundation, with a horizontal distance of one tower diameter or equivalent diameter from the tower wall in the direction of the tower air inlet
3.10
consumptive electric power ratio
ratio of the input active power (kW) of the cooling tower fan drive motor to the standard cooling water flow rate (m3/h)
3.11
drift ratio
ratio of the amount of water floating out of the cooling tower outlet to the amount of water entering the tower per unit time
