Small and medium power diesel engines - Measurement and evaluation of vibration
1 Scope
This standard specifies the measurement method and evaluation criteria of vibration of non-rotating and non-reciprocating parts of reciprocating diesel engines. Shaft vibration (including torsional vibration) is beyond the scope of this standard.
This standard is applicable to reciprocating piston diesel engines with rigid or flexible supports, and the typical uses are diesel engines for low-speed trucks, three-wheeled vehicles, tractors, irrigation and drainage pumps, marine main engines, marine auxiliary engines and generator sets.
This standard is also applicable to the matching machines driven by reciprocating machines or driving reciprocating machinery, which shall be evaluated according to relevant standards and grading.
This standard is not applicable to reciprocating diesel engines with power greater than 100 kW which are installed on road vehicles (such as industrial trucks).
The evaluation criteria provided in this standard are applicable to operation monitoring and acceptance test, and evaluating the adverse effects of mechanical vibration of diesel engine on instruments and equipment directly installed thereon.
The evaluation criteria provided in this standard are not applicable to the evaluation of internal parts of diesel engines. For example, problems related to air valves, pistons, piston rings, etc. may not be reflected in the measurement, and research technology is needed to identify these problems. Similarly, noise is beyond the scope of this standard.
