1 General provisions
1.0.1 This code is formulated to implement the Law of the People's Republic of China on Conserving Energy and national energy industry policies, reduce the total energy consumption of the steam system and improve the design level of the steam system, so as to ensure the safety, reliability, flexible operation, technological advancement and economic rationality of the system.
1.0.2 This code is applicable to the engineering design of steam systems in chemical plants, including that for the construction, renovation and extension of steam systems only for heat supply and steam systems for heat and electricity (power) cogeneration with a unit capacity of 100 MW or below.
1.0.3 The design of steam system in chemical plant shall not only meet the requirements of this code, but also comply with relevant current national standards.
2 Terms
2.0.1 steam system
devices and equipment linked together via the steam or thermal energy, forming a unified, coordinated and balanced system by various instruments, responsible for steam production, conveyance, recovery and using condensate and process residual heat to provide thermal power during the production in a chemical plant
2.0.2 steam users without used steam return
users who consume steam from the system which cannot be returned to the system in the form of steam after use
2.0.3 steam users with used steam return
users who consume steam from the system which can be returned to the system in the form of steam because of parameter changes after use
2.0.4 heat users
general name for steam users without used steam return and steam users with used steam return
2.0.5 steam sources
fuel-fired boilers, heat recovery steam generators, flash tank and other steam-generating equipment, including external steam
2.0.6 fuel-fired boilers
boilers which produce steam by burning gas, liquid and solid fuel
2.0.7 heat recovery steam generators
equipment which produce steam by heat generated in the industrial production process, the exhaust heat from gas turbine (during power generation or work), waste gas and the combustion of waste materials
2.0.8 start-up boilers
boilers that provide steam for the start-up of the process devices
2.0.9 by-produced steam
steam incidental to industrial production or steam generated by heat recovery steam generators
2.0.10 process residual heat
surplus heat generated during the production by process devices
2.0.11 heat consumption for power supply
heat energy (kJ/kW·h) consumed in the system for directly driving equipment by steam such as a steam turbine or reciprocating engine to output one kilowatt-hour of work
2.0.12 heat consumption for electricity generation
heat energy (kJ/kW·h) consumed in the system for the steam turbine to drive the generator to generate electric energy and output one kilowatt-hour electric energy (kW·h) through generator terminal
2.0.13 heat consumption for heat supply
amount of standard coal equal to fuel consumed by the heat-supply system for each 1GJ of heat, after conversion
2.0.14 annual utilization ratio
ratio of annual utilization hours to total annual statistical hours of the equipment
3 Basic requirements
3.0.1 System design shall be based on production conditions of process devices, to ensure safe operation, energy saving, environmental protection, flexible control and convenient maintenance.
3.0.2 The system parameters and grades shall be determined after technical and economic comparison according to the design conditions for process steam load, parameters, steam-driven pumps, by-produced steam, etc., in line with the principle of energy cascade utilization, in combination with the requirements of working conditions for chemical production, and taking into account the power equipment parameters.
3.0.3 The types, number, parameters and capacities of the steam turbines driving the pumps shall be determined according to the requirements of steam balance, with the steam consumption to be calculated.
3.0.4 Parameters and capacities of steam boilers and start-up (auxiliary) boilers to be used in the system shall be selected and determined according to steam balance calculation.
3.0.5 The utilization methods and means for residual heat in process devices shall be determined on the basis of the economic and reasonable demand from the steam system in chemical plant.
3.0.6 The recovery and utilization methods for steam condensate in the system shall be determined according to the needs and possibilities in the steam system in chemical plant.
