1 Scope
This part of GB/T 5008 specifies the classification, technical requirements, methods of test, inspection rules, marking, packaging, transportation and storage, etc. of lead-acid starter batteries.
This part is applicable to vented (flooded) lead-acid batteries (hereinafter referred to as “batteries”) and valve regulated (gas recombination) batteries with a nominal voltage of 12V, used primarily as a power source for the starting, ignition and lighting of various automobiles, tractors and other internal combustion engines.
This part is not applicable to batteries for other purposes, such as the starting of railcar internal combustion engines.
