——Part 4: Particular requirements for washing machines and spin extractors;
——Part 5: Particular requirements for electric shavers;
——Part 6: Particular requirements for electric hair care appliances;
——Part 7: Particular requirements for washing machines and spin extractors.
This part is Part 7 of GB/T 4214. This part shall be used in combination with GB/T 4214.1.
The clauses state "applicable", that means corresponding clauses of GB/T 4214.1-2017 are applicable to this part; when the clauses state "replacement" give priority to the clauses in this part; when the clauses state "addition", that means not only the corresponding clauses in GB/T 4214.1-2017, but also added clauses of this part shall be complied.
This part is prepared in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
This part replaces GB/T 4214.7-2012 Test method for noise of household and similar electrical appliances - Particular requirements for washing machines and spin extractors; in addition to a number of editorial changes, the following technical changes have been made with respect to GB/T 4214.1-2012.
——The test cabinet to be the test cabinet specified in GB/T 4214.1-2017 is modified (see 6.5.5, 6.5.5 of Edition 2012);
——The instructions are added that only the appliances that are designed for front loading and the manufacturer specifies that they are embedded under the counter or placed under the work surface between the cabinets (under-cabinet appliances) should be placed in the test cabinet (see 6.5.5).
The translation method used in this part is equivalent to IEC 60704-2-6:2012 Household and similar electrical appliances - Test code for the determination of airborne acoustical noise - Part 2-6: Particular requirements for tumble dryers.
The Chinese documents identical to the normative international documents given in this part are as follows:
——GB/T 25516-2010 Acoustics - Laboratory measurement procedures for ducted silencers and air-terminal units loss flow noise and total pressure loss (ISO 7235:2003, IDT).
The following editorial changes have been made in this part:
——In order to unify the name of this series of standards, the name of this part is revised to Test method for noise of household and similar electrical appliances - Particular requirements for washing machines and spin extractors.
This part was proposed by the China National Light Industry Council.
This part is under the jurisdiction of National Technical Committee on Household Electric Appliances of Standardization Administration of China (SAC/TC 46).
The previous editions of this part are as follows:

Test method for noise of household and similar electrical appliances - Particular requirements for tumbler dryers
1 Scope and object
This clause of GB/T 4214.1-2017 is applicable except as follows.
1.1 Scope
1.1.1 General
Addition:
This part of GB/T 4214 requirements apply to single unit electric tumble dryers for household and similar use intended for placing on the floor against a wall, for building-in or placing under a counter, a kitchen worktop or under a sink, for wall-mounting or on a counter. For the purpose of this standard, washer-dryer combinations, when operated as a dryer, are considered as a tumble dryer.
Note 101: For washing function, see GB/T 4214.4.
This part is also applicable for gas-fired electric tumble dryers.
1.1.2 Types of noise
Replacement:
The methods specified in GB/T 6881.2, GB/T 6881.3 and ISO 3744 can be used for measuring noise emitted by tumble dryers.
1.1.3 Size of the source
Replacement:
The method specified in ISO 3744 is applicable to noise sources of any size. When applying GB/T 6881.2 and GB/T 6881.3, care should be taken that the maximum size of the appliance under test fulfills the requirements specified in 1.3 of GB/T 6881.2 and GB/T 6881.3.
1.2 Object
Addition:
Requirements for the declaration of noise emission values are not within the scope of this part.
Note 101: For determining and verifying noise emission values declared in product specifications, see IEC 60704-3.
1.3 Measurement uncertainty
Replacement:
The estimated values of standard deviations of sound power levels, determined according to this part, are:
Table 101 – Standard deviations of sound power levels
Standard deviation/dB
σr (repeatability) σR (repeatability)
0.4 0.8
Addition:
1.101 Standard deviation for declaration and verification
For the purpose of determining and verifying declared noise emission values according to IEC 60704-3, the values indicated in Table 102 apply:
Table 102 – Standard deviations for declaration and verification
Standard deviation/dB
σP (production) σt (total) σM (reference)
0.7~1.0 1.1~1.3 1.5

3 Terms and definitions
For the purpose of this document, the following terms and definitions apply.
This clause of GB/T 4214.1-2017 is applicable except as follows.
Addition:
3.101
tumble dryer
appliance in which textile material is dried by tumbling in a rotating drum, through which heated air is passed
3.102
rated capacity
maximum mass in kg of dry textiles of a particular defined type, which the manufacturer declares can be treated in the tumble dryer on the programme selected. If the rated capacity is not declared, it shall be deduced from the free inside volume of the drum, according to the ratio 1 kg/24L.
Note 101: The rated capacity should be the same as the one used for measuring the drying performance and energy consumption according to GB/T 20292-2019.
3.103
cotton test load
textile load consisting of towels only, as defined in Annex B of GB/T 20292-2019
4 Measurement methods and acoustical environments
This clause of GB/T 4214.1-2017 is applicable except as follows.
4.2 Direct method
Addition:
Note 101: If pure tone components are present in the noise emitted by the source, the estimated standard deviation of the measured sound pressure levels in the special reverberation room may increase. In such cases additional microphone positions or source positions may be necessary, as specified in GB/T 6881.3.
4.3 Comparison method
Addition:
Note 101: If pure tone components are present in the noise emitted by the source, the estimated standard deviation of the measured sound pressure levels in the hard-walled test room or in the special reverberation room may increase. In such cases additional microphone positions or source positions may be necessary as specified in GB/T 6881.2 and GB/T 6881.3.
