For the purposes of this document, the following terms and definitions apply.
3.1
Water vapor transmission rate; WVTR
amount of water vapor passing through per unit area of specimen per unit time under specific conditions, g/(m2· d)
4 Product classification
The back sheet protects and supports crystalline silicon terrestrial photovoltaic (PV) modules, and has reliable insulation, hydrolysis resistance, ultraviolet resistance, electrical and thermal aging resistance. Generally, it has a three-layer structure: the protective layer of the outer fluorine film [polyvinyl fluoride (PVF), polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF), etc.] and fluorine coating [tetrafluororesin (PTFE), trifluorochloroethylene resin (CTFE), etc.] has good environmental corrosion resistance; its intermediate layer is usually polyester (PET) film, which has good insulating performance. Its inner layer is fluorine film or fluorine coating, and the copolymer of ethylene and vinyl acetate (PEVA), which has good adhesion performance.
At present, back sheet products are mainly classified into the following types according to their production process:
1) Compound type (including melt bonding type): the back sheet by compounding fluorine film (PVF, PVDF, etc.) on both sides of PET base film; or the back sheet prepared by compounding fluorine film on one side of PET base film and PEVA adhesive film or other film materials on the other side;
2) Coating type: Through proper coating process, the fluorine-containing coating is coated on the surface of PET base film on both sides, or coated on the surface of PET base film on one side and compounded with PEVA adhesive film or other film materials on the other side, so as to prepare a back sheet with performance similar to that of the composite type.
