This document is developed in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2020 Directives for standardization - Part 1: Rules for the structure and drafting of standardizing documents.
This document replaces GB/T 29041-2012 Road wear testing methods for motor vehicle tyres. In addition to structural adjustments and editorial changes, the following main technical changes have been made with respect to GB/T 29041-2012:
a) The application scope is modified to clarify that the standard is applicable to new tyres (see Clause 1 hereof; Clause 1 of Edition 2012);
b) Some terms are deleted (see 3.1 to 3.5 and 3.7 of Edition 2012); some terms are added (see 3.2 and 3.3 hereof);
c) The testing equipment and its requirements are added (see Clause 4 hereof);
d) The requirements for the testing load of passenger car tyres are modified (see 5.1.3.2 hereof; 4.1.3.2 of Edition 2012);
e) The requirements for the allowable deviation range of testing pressure for passenger car tyres are added (see 5.1.3.7 hereof);
f) The requirements for the testing mileage and rotation of passenger car tyres are modified (see 5.1.4.1 hereof; 4.1.5.1, 4.1.5.3 and 4.1.5.4 of Edition 2012);
g) The requirements for the testing speed of passenger car tyres are modified (see 5.1.4.4 hereof; 4.1.5.4 of Edition 2012);
h) The requirements for the testing mileage and rotation of mini/light truck tyres are modified (see 5.2.4.1 hereof; 4.2.5.1, 4.2.5.3 and 4.2.5.4 of Edition 2012);
i) The requirements for the testing speed of mini/light truck tyres are modified (see 5.2.4.4 hereof; 4.2.5.4 of Edition 2012);
j) The requirements for the testing mileage and rotation of truck tyres are modified (see 5.3.4.1, hereof; 4.3.5.1, 4.3.5.3 and 4.3.5.4 of Edition 2012);
k) The requirements for the testing speed of truck tyres are modified (see 5.3.4.4 hereof; 4.3.5.4 of Edition 2012);
l) The rotation diagram for the tractor testing is modified (see Figures C.7 and C.8 hereof; Figures C.7 and C.8 of Edition 2012).

Road wear testing methods for motor vehicle tyres
1 Scope
This document describes the method for testing the road wear performance of motor vehicle tyres, including testing equipment and its requirements, testing records and rotation diagrams, etc.
This document is applicable to the comparative wear testing of new passenger car pneumatic tyres, mini/light truck pneumatic tyres, truck pneumatic tyres, and their retreaded tyres.

3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the terms and definitions given in GB/T 6326, GB/T 3730.1, and GB/T 3730.3 and the following apply.

convoy
two or more vehicles tested at the same period, on the same test road, and under the same and interrelated conditions in a tyre test
3.2
daily maintenance
maintenance operations focusing on cleaning, replenishment, and safety performance inspection

3.3
complete maintenance
maintenance tasks mainly including inspecting and adjusting safety components such as the braking system, steering control system, and suspension; dismantling and inspecting tyres; performing tyre rotation; checking and adjusting engine operation, and vehicle emission related systems in addition to primary maintenance tasks

Note: Primary maintenance refers to the maintenance operations that focus on lubrication and fastening, and check the safety components in braking and control systems in addition to routine maintenance operations.
4 Testing equipment and its requirements
4.1 Speed sensors or other speed testing instruments, with a sampling frequency ≥ 10 Hz and accuracy of ±1 km/h.
4.2 Thermometers or other temperature measuring instruments, with an accuracy of ±1°C.
4.3 Pressure gauges or other tyre pressure measuring instruments, with an accuracy of ±5 kPa.
4.4 Wheel load meters or other mass measuring instruments, with an accuracy of ±5 kg.
4.5 Dynamic balancing machines, with an accuracy of ±5g.
4.6 Pattern depth rulers or other pattern depth measuring instruments, with an accuracy of ±0.02 mm.
4.7 Vehicle GPS positioning systems.
