GB/T 24203-2009 Carbon materials - Determination of the true density or true porosity - Boiling method
Warning: The anhydrous ethanol used in this method is flammable. When it is heated on an electric stove, asbestos net must be used, and the heating temperature must be controlled.
1 Scope
This standard specifies the terms and definitions, principles, reagents, instruments and equipment, sample preparation, test procedures, and result calculations for the determination of true density of carbon materials.
This standard is applicable to the determination of the true density or true porosity of carbon materials, as well as the true density of calcined coke and calcined anthracite.
2 Normative references
The following normative documents contain provisions which, through reference in this text, constitute provisions of this standard. For dated references, subsequent amendments to (excluding corrections), or revisions, of any of these publications do not apply to this standard. However parties to agreements based on this standard are encouraged to investigate the possibility of applying the most recent editions of the normative documents indicated below. For undated references, the latest edition applies.
GB/T 1427 Sample method of carbon material
GB/T 1997 Coke - Sampling and preparation of samples

3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this standard, the following terms and definitions apply.
3.1
true density
ratio of the mass of carbon materials to the true volume (excluding pores), expressed as a percentage
3.2
true porosity
ratio of the difference between true density and bulk density to the true density, expressed as a percentage
