3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, no terms and definitions apply.
4 Designation system
The designation of steel consists of "NM" (the first letters of Chinese phonetic alphabet of "Nai Mo”) and specified surface Brinell hardness, and that of steel with low-temperature toughness requirements consists of three parts: "NM" (the first letters of Chinese phonetic alphabet of "Nai Mo”), specified surface Brinell hardness and quality grade symbol (D, E).
Example 1: NM500
NM——the first letters of Chinese phonetic alphabet of "Nai Mo";
500——the surface Brinell hardness.
Example 2: NM500D
NM——the first letters of Chinese phonetic alphabet of "Nai Mo";
500——the surface Brinell hardness;
D——the quality grade symbol.
