3 Terms and Definitions
For the purpose of this document, the following terms and definitions apply.
3.1
transformation induced plasticity steel (TR)
steel whose microstructure is mainly composed of ferrite, bainite and residual austenite, and of which the residual austenite can be transformed into martensitic structure during forming
Note: Transformation induced plasticity steel has a high work hardening rate, percentage uniform elongation and tensile strength. It has a higher elongation compared with dual phase steel of equal tensile strength.
4 Classification and Designation Representation Methods
4.1 Designation representation methods
4.1 The designation of steel sheet and strip composed of three parts: the initial capital letters of “Cold Rolled”, i.e. “CR”, the specified values of minimum yield strength/minimum tensile strength, and the first two letters of “Transformation Induced Plasticity”, i.e. “TR”.
Example: CR380/590TR, where:
CR — the initial capital letters of “Cold Rolled”;
380/590 — 380: the specified value of minimum yield strength; 590: the specified value of minimum tensile strength, in Megapascals (MPa);
TR — the first two letters of “Transformation Induced Plasticity”.
