1 Scope
This standard specifies the methods for determination of brittleness point of vulcanized rubber with single test piece and brittleness point test machine, and for judgment of whether vulcanized rubber after impacted at specified temperature is fail or not, which including two procedures: Procedure A is applicable to the determination of brittleness point; Procedure B is applicable to the judgment of whether impact test piece, at specified temperature, result in fail or not.
Note: The brittleness point measured in this standard is the representative temperature of vulcanized rubber, rather than the lower limit of operating temperature of vulcanized rubber and their products. Brittleness temperature may be used to compare the superior and inferior low temperature properties of different rubber materials or vulcanized rubbers with different formulae. Therefore, this standard with certain practical value for quality inspection, production process control and other operations of rubber materials and their products.
