1 Scope
This standard specifies testing methods for the length of man-made staple fibres: bundle fibre midsection weighing method, single fibre instrument measurement method (Annex A) and single fibre manual measurement method (Annex B). In case of any dispute, bundle fibre midsection weighing method shall be adopted, and where it is not applicable, the testing method agreed by the relevant parties shall prevail.
This standard is applicable to the determination of mean length, length deviation rate, percentage of overlength fibre and content of multiple-length fibre of man-made staple fibres made of polyester (dacron), polyamide (nylon), polyacrylonitrile (acrylon), polypropylene (PP), polyvinyl formal (vinylon) and cellulose.
