1 Scope
This standard specifies the methods for taking lot sample and laboratory sample from greasy wool and scoured wool.
This standard is applicable to sheep wool.
2 Terminologies and Definitions
For the purposes of this standard, the following terminologies and definitions apply.
2.1
Greasy wool
Wool without treatment of washing, solvent degreasing, carbonization, etc.
2.2
Scoured wool
Wool after treatment of washing, solvent degreasing, carbonization, etc.
2.3
Lot sample
A relatively larger sample taken from one sale lot.
2.4
Laboratory sample
A representative well-mixed sample which is prepared respectively from lot sample or scoured wool lot sample and is used for taking the test sample.
3 Method Summary
Take lot samples from a wool bale by proper tools, and then take laboratory samples from these lot samples. The quantity of wool samples reduces gradually in these procedures, but the representativeness of sample shall be maintained as high as possible.
