1 Scope
This standard specifies the terms and model naming principle of manual wheelchairs as well as surface and shape requirements, assembly requirements, performance requirements, strength requirement and corresponding test methods and inspection rules of wheelchairs. This standard also specifies the requirements of documents and information release, labeling and packaging.
This standard is applicable to manual wheelchairs used indoors or outdoor by the handicapped whose mass is less than or equal to 100 kg, including wheelchairs and vehicles classified according to GB/T16432-2000:

Bimanual rear-wheel-driven wheelehairs 12 21 06
Bimanual front-wheel-driven wheelehairs 12 21 09
Bimanual lever-driven wheelchairs 12 21 12
Single-side-driven non-powered wheelchairs (single hand or single leg) 12 21 15
Foot-driven wheelchairs 12 21 18
This standard is not applicable to sports and dance wheelchairs used by the handicapped.
