GB/T 12674-2024 Motor vehicles, trailers and combination vehicles mass parameters measurement method
1 Scope
This document specifies the measurement instruments, requirements, methods and records for mass parameters of motor vehicles, trailers and combination vehicles.
This document is applicable to Categories M and N motor vehicles as well as Category O trailers and combination vehicles, and may serve as a reference for vehicles of other categories.
2 Normative references
The following documents contain provisions which, through reference in this text, constitute provisions of this document. For dated references, only the edition cited applies. For undated references, the latest edition of the referenced document (including any amendments) applies.

3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the terms and definitions given in GB/T 3730.1 apply.
4 Measurement instruments
See Table 1 for the measurement parameter requirements.
Table 1 Measurement parameter requirements
Measurement instrument Measurement parameters Unit Accuracy
Axle (wheel) load scale Axle (wheel) load kg ±0.5%
Tyre pressure gauge Tyre pressure kPa ±10kPa
5 Measurement requirements
5.1 Measurement site
The measurement site shall be flat, clean, dry and hard, with lateral and longitudinal slope of no more than 1% respectively.
5.2 Vehicle preparation
Determine the load state of the vehicle based on the measurement requirements. If the vehicle needs to be loaded with simulated load, the load shall be evenly distributed or located at the position specified by the manufacturer; the simulated load shall be firmly fixed and shall not shake or bump during the test; its mass shall not be changed due to moisture, dissipation and other conditions to ensure that the size and distribution of the loading mass remain the same. Under the test load, the cold inflation pressure of the tyres of the test vehicle shall comply with the manufacturer's specifications.
The vehicle shall be kept clean, and all assemblies, components and auxiliary equipment (including on-board tools and spare tyres) of the vehicle shall be fully equipped according to the manufacturer's specifications, and installed at the specified position (adjusted to the manufacturer's required position).
The positionally adjustable assembly component (e.g. lift axle and adjustable air suspension) shall be adjusted to a condition suitable for the load and recorded.
6 Measurement method
6.1 General requirements
6.1.1 Drive the vehicle onto the measurement instrument from the forward and backward directions once respectively for measurement, and take the average of the two measurements as the final measurement result, which is rounded to an integer.
6.1.2 For articulated vehicles and vehicles equipped with liftable axle or other special structures, which will have greater impact on vehicle load distribution under different states, only the measurement method of 6.2.1 is applicable, and the special structure state of the vehicle shall be recorded during measurement.
