1 Scope
This standard specifies the determination method for urease in foods and milk products for infants and young children.
This standard is applicable to qualitative determination of urease in foods and milk products for infants and young children.
2 Principle
Under proper PH value and temperature, urease catalyzes urea into ammonium carbonate, which produces ammonium hydroxide under alkaline conditions, which produces brown ammonium iodide double mercury by reacting with mercury potassium iodide double salt in Nessler's reagent.
