1 Scope
This standard specifies the terms and definitions, safety requirements, test methods, maintenance, operation instructions and markings for petrol (diesel) engine-powered ride-on lawnmower under the direction control by an operator through a joystick or steering wheel (hereinafter named “ride-on lawnmower”).
This standard is applicable to ride-on rotary lawnmowers, and may serve as a reference for relevant parts of ride-on lawnmowers driven by internal combustion engines with other fuels.
This standard describes the measures to reduce or eliminate hazards during use.
The list of major hazards involved in this standard is detailed in Annex A.

3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the following terms and definitions apply.
3.1
lawnmower
lawn-cutting machine, where the cutting means operates in a plane which is basically parallel to the ground, and the height of the stubble left after cutting is determined by the height of wheels, air cushion, cutting means, etc.; it may be classified into rotary type, scissor type, cylinder (reel) type and rotary and flail type according to the type of cutting means
