1 Scope
This standard specifies terms and definitions, classification, protection degree, general requirements, test, inspection rules, marking and operation instruction of fire emergency lighting and evacuate indicating system.
This standard is applicable to fire emergency lighting and evacuate indicating system (hereinafter referred to as "system") installed and used in general industrial and civil buildings and to the system installed in other environment and with specific requirements (except unless otherwise specified by relevant standard).

3 Terms and Definitions
For the purposes of this standard, the following terms and definitions apply.
3.1 Fire emergency lighting and evacuate indicating system
System which provides lighting and evacuate indicating for personnel evacuation and fire fighting work and consists of various fire emergency luminaires and relevant devices.
3.2 Fire emergency luminaire
Various luminaires which provide lighting and marking for personnel evacuation and fire fighting work, including fire emergency lighting luminaire and fire emergency indicating luminaire.
3.2.1 Fire emergency lighting luminaire
Fire emergency luminaire which provides lighting for personnel evacuation and fire fighting work, thereinto, the luminous component is portable fire emergency lighting luminaire which is also known as flashlight for evacuation.
3.2.2 Fire emergency indicating luminaire
Fire emergency luminaire which completes the following function with figure and/or character:
a) Indicating emergency exit, storey, refuge storey (room);
b) Indicating evacuation direction;
c) Indicating position and direction of fire apparatus, fire hydrant box, fire elevator and disabled people stair;
d) Indicating out-of-bounds passage and location as well as hazardous article depository.
3.3 Fire emergency lighting & indicating luminaire
Fire emergency luminaire which has the function of fire emergency lighting luminaire and fire emergency indicating luminaire simultaneously.
3.4 Fire emergency luminaire powered by self contained battery
Fire emergency luminaire of which the battery, light source and associated circuits are assembled in the luminarie.
