1. Scope
This national standard specifies the general requirements and structure of the list of dangerous goods, as well as the contents of code, name and explanation, English name, classes and divisions, secondary hazard and packing groups.
This national standard is applicable to the hazardous goods transportation, storage, production, run, application and disposition.

The following standards contain provisions which, through reference in this text, constitute provisions of this national standard. For dated reference, subsequent amendments (excluding amending error in the text) to, or revisions of, any of these publications do not apply. However, the parties whose enter into agreement according to these specifications are encouraged to research whether the latest editions of these references are applied or not. For undated references, the latest edition of the normative document referred to applies.

3. Terms and Definitions
The terms and definitions which are established in GB 6944 are applicable to this standard.
4. General Requirements
4.1 The hazard of dangerous goods is partitioned into 9 classes according to GB 6944. Some classes are partitioned into divisions, the classes and divisions are given below. See GB 6944 for the criteria.
Class 1: exploder
Division 1.1: the substance and article which is possessed of integral explosion hazard;
Division 1.2 Substance and article which present a projection hazard but no mass explosion hazard.
Division 1.3 Substance and article which present both a fire hazard and a minor blast or projection hazard (or both) but not a mass explosion hazard
Division 1.4 No significant hazard
Division 1.5 Very insensitive substances with a mass explosion hazard;
Division 1.6 Very insensitive substances with no mass explosion hazard
Class 2: Gases
Division 2.1 Flammable gases
Division 2.2 Non-flammable, non-toxic gases
Division 2.3 Toxic gases
Class 3: Flammable liquids
Class 4: Flammable solids, self-reactive substances and substances which, in contact with water, release flammable gases
Division 4.1 Flammable solids;

Division 4.3 Substances which, in contact with water, release flammable gases
Class 5: Oxidizing substances and organic peroxides
Division 5.1 Oxidizing agents
