FZ/T 93048 Needles for needle loom is to be published in several parts, and the following parts are planned to be published currently:
——Part 1: Felting needles;
——Part 2: Fork needles;
——Part 3: Conical felting needle;
…
This is Part 1 of FZ/T 93048.
This standard is developed in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2009.
This part replaces FZ/T 93048-2010 Felting needles and the following main technical changes have been made with respect to FZ/T 93048-2010:
——Four terms and definitions, including "barb distances on same edge", have been deleted (see Clause 2 herein; Clause 2 of 2010 Edition);
——The parameters of felting needles with code of 9 and 10 have been added, the description of the working part section height of the felting needles with non-regular triangular section has been added, and the parameters of individual felting needles have been adjusted (see Table 1 herein; Table 1 of the 2010 Edition);
——The specification for felting needles with nominal length of 80 mm has been added (see Table 2 herein; Table 2 of the 2010 Edition);
——The technical requirements of felting needles have been changed into "characteristics" for description (see 4.2 herein, Clause 4 of 2010 Edition);
——The representation method of the number of edge barbs of special felting needles has been added (see 5.1);
——The contents of test methods, inspection rules and marking, packaging, transportation, and storage have been deleted (see Clauses 5, 6, and 7 of 2010 Edition).
——The editorial changes have been made.
This part was proposed by the China National Textile and Apparel Council.
This part is under the jurisdiction of the Subcommittee on Nonwoven Machinery of the National Technical Committee on Textile Machinery and Accessory of Standardization Administration of Chin (SAC/TC 215/SC 3).
The previous editions of this part are as follows:

Needles for needle loom — Part 1: Felting needles
1 Scope
This part of FZ/T 93048 specifies the terms and definitions, classification and basic structure, dimensions and characteristics, and marking of felting needles.
This part is applicable to triangular felting needles and specially shaped section felting needles (hereinafter referred to as felting needles) for needling consolidation of nonwovens.
2 Terms and definitions
For the purpose of this document, the following terms and definitions apply.
2.1
felting needles
important device of the needle loom, which uses its barbs to repeatedly puncture the fibers in the fiber web or the yarns in the fabric to entangle and reinforce them to achieve or form the surface functional transformation
2.2
nominal length
distance from the point to the inside of the crank
2.3
working part
working part of the felting needles
2.4
edge
natural edge of the working part shuttle
2.5
barb
depressions and spikes on the edge of the working part for hook and belt fibers
2.6
undercut angle
angle between the top surface of the barb and the cross section of the working part
2.7
kick-up
part of the barb above the edge
2.8
barb depth
vertical distance of the barb below the edge
2.9
barb distance
distance between two adjacent barbs on same edge
2.10
distance from tip to the first barb
distance from the needle tip to the first barb of the first edge
2.11
crank
part perpendicular to the shank, which is used to position
2.12
crank position angle
angle between the symmetrical center line of the cross section of the working part and the axis line of the crank shaft
2.13
working part section height
distance from the bottom to the vertex of the working part section
2.14
point style
shape of needle point
See Table A.1 for the point style of felting needles.
3 Classification and basic structure
3.1 Classification
According to the structural characteristics, felting needles may be classified into the following styles:
——Triangular felting needle;
——Conical felting needle;
——Rhombic felting needle;
——Other special-shaped felting needles.
3.2 Basic structure
The basic structure of the felting needle is shown in Figure 1.
Dimension:
L1——nominal length; d1——diameter of shank at middle part;
L2——length of working part; d2——diameter of shank;
L3——distance from tip to the first barb; h——working part section height;
L4——barb distances on same edge; h1——barb depth;
α——undercut angle; h2——kick-up height.
Keys:
1——Needle point;
2——Working part;
3——Shank at middle part;
4——Shank;
5——Crank.
