3 Terms and Definitions
For the purposes of this document, the following terms and definitions apply.
3.1
hosiery size
length of human foot sole expressed in centimeter (cm), applied as a basis for the design of hosiery sole length
3.2
nonelastic hosiery
hosiery with heel (woven heel), not containing elastic fiber (except welt), e.g. pure cotton hosiery
3.3
elastic hosiery with heel
hosiery with heel (woven heel), containing elastic fiber (except welt), e.g. core-spun spandex yarn mixed socks and elastic nylon yarn mixed socks
3.4
elastic hosiery without heel
hosiery without heel, containing elastic fiber, e.g. elastic sock panel, high sock, stocking, pantyhose
3.5
elastic hosiery without setting
elastic hosiery without heel, not subjected to setting
3.6
hosiery with single layer bottom
hosiery whose sole is not reinforced
3.7
hosiery with reinforced bottom
hosiery whose sole is reinforced
4 Product Classification
4.1 By application of elastic fiber, hosieries are classified into nonelastic hosiery and elastic hosiery (elastic hosiery with heel, elastic hosiery without heel).
4.2 By product styles, hosieries are classified into hosiery with heel (including ankle hosiery) and hosiery without heel (including sock panel, high sock, stocking, pantyhose); heel-fixed pantyhose, pantyhose with heel and open-toe pantyhose belong to pantyhose category.
5 Requirements
5.1 Details
The requirements are specified in the two aspects: appearance quality and inherent quality. The appearance quality involves size, tolerance (not applicable to elastic hosiery with heel), surface defect and sewing. Inherent quality includes the indexes of formaldehyde content, pH value, odor, decomposable carcinogenic aromatic amine dyes, fiber content, colour fastness to water, colour fastness to perspiration, colour fastness to rubbing, colour fastness to soaping, weft-wide stretching value and warp-wide stretching value, etc.
5.2 Grading
5.2.1 In purpose of quality grading, hosieries in pairs (pieces) are graded as first-grade product and acceptable product.
5.2.2 Hosiery is graded by batch in inherent quality and by piece in appearance quality, and the final grade is determined according to the combination of the two means above (whichever is lower).
5.3 Appearance quality
5.3.1 Size and tolerance
5.3.1.1 See Figure 1 ~ Figure 4 for the parts of hosiery.
