Welding code for mechanical components of PWR nuclear islands
Procedure qualification of repair welding for weld defects
1 Subject content and application scope
This standard specifies the requirements for procedure qualification of repair welding process in the design, manufacture and installation of nuclear island mechanical equipment of pressurized water reactor (PWR) power plants.
This standard is applicable to the procedure qualification of repair welding for welds of carbon steel or low alloy steel, austenitic stainless steel, austenitic stainless steel build-up welding layer on carbon steel or low alloy steel and nickel-based alloy surfacing layers.

3 Basic requirements
3.1 The welding method used for repair welding must be qualified. Qualification for corresponding welds shall be carried out according to EJ/T 1027.11, EJ/T 1027.12, EJ/T 1027.14 and EJ/T 1027.15 respectively.
3.2 Simulated repair welding tests must be carried out on procedure qualification test pieces or mock-up pieces under the following circumstances.
3.2.1 Simulated repair welding test must be conducted before repair welding of build-up layer and isolation layer of austenitic stainless steel and nickel-based alloy on carbon steel and low alloy steel.
3.2.2 In the case of manual build-up welding of nickel-based alloy and isolation layer on carbon steel and low alloy steel, if repair welding is carried out according to the same welding process, a simulated repair welding test is not required.
