1 Scope
This Specification specifies the traffic requirements, e.g. call processing, internet interworking interface, signaling, network administration, synchronization, environment, maintenance, power supply and transmission, for digital program-controlled switching equipment in PSTN and ISDN.
The equipment meeting the requirements of this Specification can not only satisfy the telephone, fax and data communication requirements in existing PSTN but also process ISDN services. It is applicable to Integrated Digital Network (IDN), digital-analog hybrid network, Narrow Integrated Services Digital Network (N-IS-DN).
The equipment meeting the requirements of this Specification, in the networks above can serve not only as the end office, tandem office or tandem office /end office of local network but also as the long-distance terminal office and transit office, long-distance and local mixed office, and international office in long-distance network.
The performance requirements listed in this Specification shall be the design indexes of equipment under the conditions specified in this Specification.
