Oriented strand board with directly overlayable surfaces
1 Scope
This standard specifies the terms and definitions, classification, specification limit, requirements, measurement and test methods, inspection rules as well as the marking, packaging, transportation and storage of the oriented strand board.
This standard is applicable to oriented strand board that can be directly processed with secondary overlayable surfaces.

3 Terms and definitions
For the purpose of this standard, the following terms and definitions and those defined in GB/T 18259-2009 apply. For the convenience of application, some terms and definitions specified in GB/T 18259-2009, LY/T 1580-2010 and LY/T 1717-2007 are listed below.
3.1
oriented strand board, OSB
a multi-layer structural panel made by wood flake board with specified shapes and thicknesses, which is subjected to sizing treatment and oriented forming and then hot pressing. The surface wood shavings are directionally arranged along the length or width direction of the panel.
[LY/T 1580-2010, 3.1]
3.2
oriented strand board with directly overlayable surfaces
oriented strand board using wood-wool and fine fibers as surface raw materials, which may be subjected to overlayable surface processing directly.
3.3
dry conditions
indoor environment or outdoor environment with protective measures usually refers to the environmental conditions with temperature of 20℃, relative humidity not higher than 65% or that with only a few weeks in a year when the relative humidity exceeds 65%.
[GB/T 18259-2009, 2.1.79]
3.4
humid conditions
indoor environment or outdoor environment with protective measures usually refers to the environmental conditions with temperature of 20℃, relative humidity higher than 65% but lower than 85% or that with only a few weeks in a year when the relative humidity exceeds 85%.
[GB/T 18259-2009, 2.1.80]
3.5
specification limit
it specifies the limit value used to determine whether a measurement quality characteristic of a unit product is qualified.
[LY/T 1717-2007, 3.1.5]
3.6
upper specification limit, μU
it specifies the maximum value of qualified measurement quality characteristics.
[LY/T 1717-2007, 3.1.6]
3.7
lower specification limit, μL
it specifies the minimum value of qualified measurement quality characteristics.
[LY/T 1717-2007, 3.1.7]
4 Classification
Oriented strand board with directly overlayable surfaces is divided into four categories according to the purpose:
——B1: non-bearing oriented strand board with directly overlayable surfaces under dry conditions;
——B2: load-bearing oriented strand board with directly overlayable surfaces under dry conditions;
——B3: non-bearing oriented strand board with directly overlayable surfaces under humid condition;
——B4: overload oriented strand board with directly overlayable surfaces under humid condition.
5 Specification limit
5.1 The requirements specified in this standard are the product specification limits, which are used to determine whether the unit product is qualified.
5.2 For dimensional deviation, the values specified in Table 1 are the specification limits. For density deviation and moisture content in the board, the values specified in Table 3 are the specification limits. For formaldehyde emission, the value required by GB 18580 is the upper specification limit.
5.3 The index requirements for the following mechanical property items are lower specification limit μL:
—— Modulus of rupture (MOR);
—— Modulus of elasticity (MOE);
——Internal bonding strength;
——Surface bonding strength;
——Screw holding capacity.
With regard to the property of a board (except the force of holding screws), 5% fractile x5% shall be calculated in accordance with Equation (A.9) in GB/T 4897-2015, Annex A and shall not be lower than lower specification limit μL. With regard to batch templets property, the 5% fractile x5% shall be calculated in accordance with Equation (A.7) in GB/T 4897-2015, Annex A and shall not be lower than lower specification limit μL.
5.4 24 h water absorption thickness expansion rate index requirements are the upper specification limit μU:
With regard to the property of a board, 95% fractile x95% shall be calculated in accordance with Equation (A.8) in GB/T 4897-2015, Annex A and shall not be higher than upper specification limit μU. With regard to batch templets property, the 95% tantile x95% shall be calculated in accordance with Equation (A.6) in GB/T 4897-2015, Annex A and shall not be higher than upper specification limit μU.
