Polymer modified asphalt cement for use in pavement construction
1 Scope
This standard specifies the requirements for classification, technical conditions, storage and transportation of polymer modified asphalt cement for use in pavement construction.
This standard is applicable to polymer modified asphalt cement made of styrene-butadiene-styrene block copolymer (SBS), styrene butadiene rubber (SBR), ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer (EVA) and polyethylene (PE) as modified admixture materials. For the purpose of other polymer modified asphalt cements meeting the series indexes of this standard, this standard can serve as a reference.

3 Terms and definitions
3.1
styrene-butadiene-styrene block copolymer
a thermoplastic elastomer, classified in two categories: linear (non-crosslinked) one and star class (crosslinked) one, both of which can be used for asphalt modification
3.2
styrene butadiene rubber
amorphous elastomer copolymerized by butadiene and styrene and with randomly distributed links, which is elastic after vulcanization. For the purpose of this standard, it refers to raw rubber synthesized by emulsion method and not vulcanized
3.3
ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer
resin made by copolymerization of ethylene and vinyl acetate Such commonly used products are ones produced by high-pressure bulk polymerization.
3.4
polyethylene
Ethylene monomer is homopolymerized under different production conditions. Low density polyethylene polymerized at high pressure is commonly used in this standard.
