3 Terms and definitions
For the purpose of this standard, the following terms and definitions apply.
3.1 maximum oscillating angle
angle between two limit positions of ball pin, when the ball pin in ball joint assy is swung from one limit position to another through the center of ball cup, by reciprocating the ball pin in the direction specified in the product drawing, see Figure 1
a) oscillating angle of outer ball joint b) oscillating angle of inner ball joint
Figure 1 Oscillating angle of ball joint assy
3.2 oscillating torque
torque of continuous reciprocating swing of ball pin at a certain speed within the maximum oscillating angle of the joint assy in a symmetrical plane or a plane specified in the design
3.3 rotating torque
torque when the ball pin axis coincides with ball cup hole axis and the ball pin rotates uniformly around the axis
4 Performance requirements
4.1 Basic performance of ball joint assy
Test in accordance with 5.2, and the basic performance of ball joint assy shall meet the requirements of product drawing.
4.2 Stiffness of ball joint assy
Test in accordance with 5.3, and the stiffness of ball joint assy shall meet the requirements of product drawing.
4.3 Strength of ball joint assy
Test in accordance with 5.4, and the strength of ball joint assy shall meet the requirements of product drawing.
