1 Scope
This standard specifies the basic technique requirements of the resistor, including terms and characteristics; normal working condition and installation condition; structure, performance and test requirements.
This standard is applicable to resistors with rated voltage AC 50Hz, 1140V or below or DC 1500V or below, mainly including resistors used for starting, speed regulation and braking of AC and DC motors; resistors for regulating circuit parameters (such as current) and energy consumption resistors converting electric energy to heat energy.
This standard is also applicable to resistance element or component; the resistance element of rheostat may adopt this standard by reference, but the transition apparatus or resistance conversion device of various rheostats (sliding rheostat; rheostat, field rheostat, fluid oil-immersed starting rheostat, etc.) is excluded.
This standard is not applicable to the rheostat (frequency sensitive rheostat) which utilizes ferromagnetic material to change the equivalent impedance value with frequency change so as to make motor reach smooth starting and resistors with other special requirements.
2 Normative References
The following standards contain provisions which, through reference in this text, constitute provisions of this standard. For dated reference, subsequent amendments to (excluding correction to), or revisions of, any of these publications do not apply. However, all parties coming to an agreement according to this standard are encouraged to study whether the latest edition of these documents is applicable. For undated references, the latest edition of the normative document is applicable.
