1 Responsibilities of the specialty
1.0.1 Purposes of pipe strainer
Pipe strainer is a pipe accessory for removing solid impurities in the fluid, which can protect the process equipment and special pipe fittings (such as compressor, pump, fuel nozzle and drain valve) from the incursion of debris that may cause them to be damaged or blocked and affect their normal operation, thus stabilizing the process and ensuring safety in production.
1.0.2 Responsibilities of process system specialty in the selection of pipe strainers during engineering design
1.0.2.1 Selecting pipe strainers which are of appropriate type and made of suitable material according to the process requirements.
1.0.2.2 Representing the pipe strainers on the PI diagram with specified graphic symbols and abbreviated letters, and then numbering and marking them.
1.0.2.3 Completing the engineering design of the strainer system (such as draining, emptying, bypass, heat preservation, switching and valves).
1.0.2.4 Calculating or estimating the pressure loss of the strainer system.
1.0.2.5 Preparing strainer data sheets and summary lists, providing the conditions for engineering design of the relevant specialties, and placing orders.
