The Signalling Connection Control Part (SCCP) provides additional functions to the Message Transfer Part (MTP) to cater for both connectionless as well as connection-oriented network services to transfer circuit-related and non-circuit-related signalling information and other types of information between exchanges and specialized centres (e.g. management and maintenance centers) in telecommunication networks via a No.7 Signaling Network.
2.1 Objective
The general objective of signalling connection control part is to provide the means for the following cases.
1) Set up logical signaling connection in No.7 Signaling Network
2) Transfer signaling data unit with or without logical signalling connections
With or without peer-to-peer signaling connection, SCCP transfers circuit-related and call-related signaling information of ISDN user parts.
2.2 Primitives
The service interface from SCCP to upper layer and to message transfer part (MTP) is descrived by primitives and parameterd (See Figure 2-1).
