1 Method Summary
Interfacial tension is determined in such manner that one horizontal platinum wire measurement ring pulls off the platinum wire ring from the liquid surface with higher interfacial tension, namely by the force that the platinum wire ring is pulled upward from the water and oil interface. Where interfacial tension is calculated, the measured force shall be corrected by an experience measurement coefficient; this coefficient depends on used force, density of oil and water as well as the diameter of ring; measurement is carried out under strict and standardized non-equilibrium conditions; namely this determination is completed within 1 minute after the interface is formed.
