Footwear - Test methods for socks - Static compression set
1 Scope
This document describes the test method for static compression set of socks.
This document is applicable to the static compression set of various microcellular foam socks such as ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer (EVA) and polyurethane (PU) foam.

3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the terms and definitions given in GB/T 2703 and the following apply.
3.1
compression set
specimen which is deformed after being compressed by external force, and when the external force is removed, the geometric size changes in the direction of the force
4 Principle
Where the sock is compressed by external force, its microcellular foam substrate will deform along the stress direction. Where the external force is removed, the microcellular foam substrate still cannot recover to its original geometric size. In this standard, the sock is subjected to static compression under a certain pressure and a certain time, and the compression deformation performance of the sock is evaluated by the geometric size change rate produced in the stress direction.
