Textiles - Quantitative chemical analysis - Mixtures of meta-aramid and para-aramid fibres (method using dimethylacetamide and lithium chloride)
1 Scope
This document specifies a method using dimethylacetamide and lithium chloride to determine the fibre percentage of binary mixtures of meta-aramid and para-aramid fibres, after removal of non-fibrous matter.
This document is applicable to the binary mixtures of meta-aramid and para-aramid fibres.
Note: See Annex A for the method for identifying fibres in the mixtures of meta-aramid and para-aramid fibres.

4 Principle
The meta-aramid fibre is dissolved out from a known dry mass of the mixture with dimethylacetamide and lithium chloride solution. The residue is collected, washed, dried and weighed; its mass, corrected if necessary, is used for calculating the percentage of the dry mass of the mixture. The percentage of meta-aramid fibre is obtained by difference.
