Granular materials - The physical properties - Part 1: Determination of apparent density
1 Scope
This part of GB/T 31057 specifies the basic principle and methods of apparent density test for powder.
This part is applicable to powder with a diameter of 5μm~5mm of solid granules. It may also serve as a reference for powder beyond this range.
2 Normative references
The following referenced documents are indispensable for the application of this document. For dated references, only the edition cited applies. For undated references, the latest edition of the referenced document (including any amendments) applies.

3 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the following terms and definitions apply.
3.1
apparent density
mass per unit volume naturally filled by granular materials under specified conditions
4 Principle
Drop the powder from the funnel hole (fixed at a certain height) and fill the density cup with a known volume. Under apparent conditions, the apparent density of powder is expressed by the mass of powder per unit volume.
5 Experimental instruments, equipment and components
5.1 Instruments used for main experimental methods
5.1.1 General
This part gives the instrument diagrams of three methods. Any instrument which is made according to the principle of apparent density and may obtain the correct apparent density may be used. One or a combination of them may be adopted.
