1 Scope
This standard specifies basic requirements of landfill disposal for very low level radioactive waste (hereinafter referred to as VLLW), including principle and activity concentration guidelines of landfill disposal as well as selection, design and construction requirements for special landfill site as well as operation and closure requirements for landfill site.
This standard is applicable to landfill disposal for VLLW produced by operation and decommissioning of nuclear power plant and nuclear fuel cycle facility as well as at place where nuclear technology is utilized.
This standard is not applicable to disposal for tailings and waste rock produced during the smelting of uranium uranium (thorium) ores.
