Fiber-reinforced plastics composites - Determination for mean coefficient of linear expansion
1 Scope
This standard specifies the specimen, instruments and equipment, test procedures, calculation and test report for determining mean coefficient of linear thermal expansion of fiber reinforced plastics composites by push-rod differential method.
It is applicable to the determination of mean coefficient of linear thermal expansion of fiber-reinforced plastics composites.
2 Normative references
The following documents contain provisions which, through reference in this text, constitute provisions of this method. For dated references, subsequent amendments (excluding corrections) to, or revisions, of any of these publications do not apply. However, parties to agreements based on this method are encouraged to investigate the possibility of applying the most recent editions of the normative documents indicated below. For undated references, the latest edition applies.

3 Term and definition
For the purposes of this standard, the following term and definition apply.
3.1
mean coefficient of linear thermal expansion
mean value of specimen length variations per change of 1℃ from temperature t1 to t2
4 Principle
In this method, a linear thermal expansion coefficient tester for push-rod differential method is used to uniformly heat the specimen, control the rising rate of the specimen temperature, measure the specimen temperature and its corresponding length variation, and calculate the mean coefficient of linear thermal expansion within the required temperature range.
