1 Scope
This part specifies the structure and basic form dimensions, technical requirements, installation and adjustment, quality inspection, painting and marking for the upper part and lower part (hereinafter respectively referred to as "upper treadle" and "lower treadle") of the rolling stock clearance treadle for standard gauge railways (hereinafter referred to as "clearance treadle").
This part is applicable to the design, manufacturing and installation of upper treadles (of basic and widened forms) and lower treadles.

3 General Requirements of Clearance Treadle
3.1 The clearance treadle is composed of upper treadle, lower treadle, track and foundation. A clearance inspection chamber and clearance treadle detection display system shall be provided, see Figure A.1 of Appendix A.
3.2 Upper treadles can be classified into two forms: basic clearance upper treadle and widened clearance upper treadle. The latter is applicable to clearance checking for such rolling stocks as electric locomotive and double-deck coach.
3.3 The inner contour dimension of clearance treadle shall not be less than the rolling stock clearance specified GB 146.1-1983 or exceed the error range specified by accuracy. The dimension of the fixed part of structure shall meet the requirements of the Structure Gauge-2 specified in GB 146.2-1983.
