1 Scope
This standard is applicable to complete filter units for radio interference suppression used in the equipment and the whole machine connected with the mains supply, of which the rated voltage between two wires does not exceed DC 500 V or AC RMS or the rated voltage between any wire and the ground does not exceed DC 250 V or AC RMS, and the frequency does not exceed 100 Hz.
Within the scope of this standard, the combination of two or more filters in one shell is also included.
The filter composed entirely of capacitive components has been included in IEC 384-14.
This standard is not necessarily applicable completely to filters used in automobiles, airplanes or ships. Additional requirements shall be specified in the detail specifications of filters used in these occasions.
Filters within the scope of this standard can also be used to protect the equipment and the whole machine from being affected by electrical noise and instantaneous changes in voltage or current from power supply or other parts of the equipment.
If the filter is not connected to the mains supply, its safety test is not applicable and can be omitted.
