Fragrance/Flavor substances - Determination of ester value or ester content
1 Scope
This part of GB/T 14455 specifies a method for the determination of the ester value or ester content of fragrance/flavor substances.
This part is applicable to the determination of the ester content of single esters and the ester value of essential oils in isolated and synthetic fragrance/flavor substances.
This part is not applicable to the determination of the ester content of mixed esters and esters that are difficult to saponify, and the ester value of essential oils containing lactones or an appreciable proportion of aldehydes.

milligrams of potassium hydroxide required to neutralize the acids liberated by the hydrolysis of esters present in 1g of the fragrance/flavor substances
