1 Subject Content and Application Scope
This standard describes test methods for determining the strength and durability of furniture like chairs and stools.
This standard is applicable to delivery finished products of various chairs and stools which are applied to household, hotel and restaurant. This standard is applicable neither to revolving chair, nor to chairs and stools made of ceramic, vine and osier.
The test methods for strength and durability specified in this standard have no limit on the materials, construction and processes of test specimen.
2 Principles and Test Classification
2.1 Principles
The mechanical property test for furniture is a test that simulates the strength or bearing capacity for the parts of furniture under the condition of one-off or repetitive load during normal use and habitual misuse.
According to the frequency of normal use and possible misuse degree under the intended application condition for the product, and based on the loading magnitude and loading times, the strength and durability test is divided into five test levels, shown in Appendix A (Informative).
