b) The description of characters is changed (see 5.1; 3.1 of Edition 2003);
c) The identification and determination methods are added (see 5.2 and 7.2);
d) The requirements for analytical sieve with a particle size of 0.42mm are added (see Table 1);
e) The indicators of triphenylphosphine oxide, dichloromethane and total arsenic (see Tables 1 and 2) and corresponding determination methods (see 7.8, 7.9 and 7.11) are added;
f) The determination methods for the content of canthaxanthin are changed (see 7.3.2; 4.4 of Edition 2003);

Introduction
Feed additives refer to a small amount or trace substances added in the process of feed processing, production and use, including nutritional feed additives and general feed additives. For the convenience of application, GB 7300 Feed additives is divided into the following 13 categories:
——Amino acids, their salts and analogues;
——Vitamins, provitamins and chemically well-defined substances having similar effect;
——Minerals and their complexes (or chelates);
——Enzymes;
——Live microorganisms;
——Non-protein nitrogen;
——Antioxidant;
——Preservatives and acidity regulators;
——Coloring agents;
——Flavouring and appetising substances;
——Bonding agent, anti-caking additives, stabilizers, and emulsifiers;
——Polysaccharides and oligosaccharides;
——Others.
The product of this document, beta,beta-carotene-4,4-diketone (canthaxanthin), belongs to Category 9 coloring agents. As beta,beta-carotene-4,4-dione (cantharidine) is the second published product standard in this category, this document is designated GB 7300.902 as Part 902 of GB 7300.
Feed additives - Part 9: Coloring agents - beta,beta-carotene-4,4-diketone (canthaxanthin)
1 Scope
This document specifies the technical requirements, sampling, inspection rules, labeling, packaging, transportation, storage and shelf life of feed additives - beta,beta-carotene-4,4-diketone (canthaxanthin) products, and describes the test methods.
This document is applicable to beta,beta-carotene-4,4-diketone (canthaxanthin) 96, which is prepared by chemical synthesis with vitamin A acetate or β-carotene as the main raw material as well as beta,beta-carotene-4,4-diketone (canthaxanthin) 10, which is prepared by using 96-type product as raw material, dissolving in dichloromethane, added with feed raw material gelatin or starch or feed additive lignosulfonate, and dried by spraying.
