This document is developed in accordance with the rules given in GB/T 1.1-2020 Directives for standardization - Part 1: Rules for the structure and drafting of standardizing documents.
This document replaces GB 16914-2012 General safety technique conditions of gas burning appliances. In addition to a number of structural adjustments and editorial changes, the following technical deviations have been made with respect GB 16914-2012:
— the inapplicable content is added (see Clause 1);
— the requirement that the normal use of gas burning appliance is within the "useful life of the gas burning appliance" is added (see 4.1);
— the content requirement of "technical information related to installation interface" is added in the installation instructions (see 5.1.2.2);
— the explanatory information includes "safety maintenance matters requiring additional explanation and certain matters carried out by professionals” is cleared in the operation and maintenance manual (see 5.1.2.3);
— the requirement of "nameplate” is added (see 5.1.3.1);
— the safety warning expression on the gas burning appliance is changed, and the requirement of rated gas pressure marked on the package is added (see 5.1.3.2 and 5.1.3.3 hereof; 3.1.2.3 of Edition 2012);
— the instructions to be provided by the manufacturer of accessories is deleted (see 3.1.3 of Edition 2012);
— the requirements of “risk analysis” are added (see 5.3.1.1);
— the basic requirement of "the manufacturer shall take into account the intended and reasonably foreseeable use of gas burning appliances" is added (see 5.3.1.2);
— the requirements for corrosion of discharged condensate on the discharge line or site are deleted (see 3.3.1.2 of Edition 2012);
— the requirement of "avoid gas-related risks from electrical sources" is added (see 5.3.1.9);
— “the requirement of consideration of electromagnetic compatibility risks” is added (see 5.3.1.16);
— the category of gas burning appliances to prevent the accumulation of leaky gas chambers as indoor use is clarified (see 5.3.2.3 hereof; 3.3.2.3 of Edition 2012);
— the requirements for separate and non-smoking channel domestic gas heaters and other gas burning appliances are deleted (see 3.3.4.4 of Edition 2012);
— the content of "surfaces and parts near the flame" exception to the surface temperature requirements is added (see 5.3.6.3 hereof; 3.3.6.3 of Edition 2012).

Introduction
This document is formulated with a view to protect personal health and safety of life and property, prevent accidents and hazards that may occur during the use of gas burning appliances/equipment, improve energy utilization efficiency, promote environmental protection, strengthen corresponding management, and meet the needs of trade.
This document is the basic safety technical conditions for gas burning appliances/equipment and their accessories for put on the market and free circulation, and is also the basic safety technical content for the preparation of special standards for gas burning appliances/equipment and their accessories.
General safety technique requirements of gas burning appliances
1 Scope
This document specifies the basic safety technical contents of gas burning appliances (hereinafter referred to as "gas appliances") and their accessories for put on the market and free circulation, requirements, etc.
This document is applicable to domestic and commercial gas appliances and accessories fueled by city gas.
This document is not applicable to gas appliances used on vehicles, ships and other vehicles, as well as gas appliances specifically designed for specific uses or purposes such as industrial production processes or laboratory research.

4 Put on the market and free circulation
4.1 Necessary measures shall be taken before the gas appliances and accessories are put on the market and put into use to ensure that they will not endanger human health and property safety during normal use.
Note: In this document, the "normal use" of gas appliances means that the gas appliances are under the following conditions of use:
a) Install correctly according to the installation instructions and maintain correctly regularly;
b) Use within the range of gas quality changes and gas supply pressure fluctuations that meet the requirements of the standard;
c) During the service life of gas appliances, the appliances are used correctly for their intended purpose or can reasonably be used correctly in the intended manner.
4.2 The specific standards for gas appliances and accessories shall include the requirements specified in Clause 5 and shall include a corresponding list of provisions that meet the requirements of Clause 5.
4.3 Gas appliances and accessories put on the market and in free circulation shall meet the requirements of Clause 5.
4.4 Gas appliances and accessories can only be put on the market and freely circulated after they have been verified to meet the declared product standards.
4.5 In the normal use of gas appliances, when it is proved that the products have defects that endanger human health or property safety, the products with similar defects shall be restricted or prohibited from continuing to be put on the market and circulated
