1 Scope
This standard specifies the radiation protection principles and requirements for handling unsealed source.
This standard is applicable to laboratory activities of handling unsealed source in the production and application of radioisotopes; other activities of handling unsealed source may also refer to it.

3 Terminologies and Definitions
For the purposes of this standard, the following terminologies and definitions apply.
3.1
Unsealed source
It refers to the source not meeting the condition listed in the definition of sealed source. Sealed source refers to the radioactive material sealed in enclosure or tightly solidified in covering layer and taking on solid form. The enclosure or covering layer of sealed source shall be provided with adequate strength to make source maintain sealing property without radioactive leak under design and operating conditions and abrasion condition as well as predicted incident condition.
