Quilted Textiles
1 Scope
This standard specifies the terms and definitions, requirements, test methods, inspection rules, marking, packaging, transportation and storage of quilted textiles.
This standard is applicable to all kinds of quilted textiles made by quilting with different kinds of textile fabrics and lining fabrics, and with wadding fibre filling of a certain compressive resilience (for example, garments, home textiles, ornaments and other quilted textiles).
This standard is not applicable to products for infants and young children under 36 months, and to garment products of filling contain with down or feather.

3 Terms and Definitions
For the purpose of this document, the following terms and definitions apply.
3.1
quilting
a sewing process to fix regularly fabric, lining and filling by quilter or by hand sewing, which is classified into machinery quilting and hand quilting
3.2
filling
wadding fibre of a certain compressive resilience, generally have the function of supporting, thermal insulation and heat insulation between the fabric and lining of the product
3.3
pads
padding products made by sewing and quilting of textile fabrics and with fillings, for example: back cushion, seat cushion, mattress, pillow block, etc.
3.4
down products
quilted products with the filling of 100% down and feather, and the down content greater than or equal to 50%
3.5
feather products
quilted products with the filling of 100% down and feather, and the down content less than 50%
4 Requirements
4.1 Operation instruction
4.1.1 Operating instructions as specified in GB 5296.4 and GB 31701.
4.1.2 Filling mass and down content shall be indicated on the permanent label of down and feather products, and filling mass shall be indicated on the permanent label of other quilted textiles.
4.2 Quality of finished product
4.2.1 The quality of finished product include appearance quality, quilting technique quality and inherent quality.
4.2.2 The appearance quality of finished product as specified in Table 1.

4.2.3 Technique quality of finished quilted textiles as specified in Table 2. Therein, for quilting, embroidery and sewing quality, 1 unqualified section of first grade product is permissible, and 2 unqualified sections of acceptable product is permissible.

The applique embroidery shall be smooth and flat and free from obvious missed embroidery, the sprayed embroidery shall be accurate and its transition shall be natural and free from overlapping and misplacement
Sewing quality The track is uniform, straight and firm; curling seam is flat, smooth, neat, straight; consistent broad, no exposed feather; malposition of face and lining fabric sewing is less than 1.0 cm; the needle sleeve is straight, and the edge must be back stitched (0.5 cm to 1 cm); the connection does not appear double track line.
Stitch density: plain seam ≥ 10 stitches/3 cm; overlocked seam (blind stitch) ≥ 9 stitches/3 cm; overlocked seam (slant stitch) 11 stitches/3 cm; herringbone stitch ≥ 8 stitches/3 cm
Note: Quilting stitch density can be determined according to purpose or user's requirements by the manufacturer.
4.2.4 Inherent quality of finished products shall be in accordance with Table 3. Quilted textiles for children at 3 to 14 years old shall also in accordance with GB 31701.

Note : According to those specified in GB/T 4841.3, the colour larger than 1/12 standard depth for dyeing with dyestuffs is dark, while that less than or equal to 1/12 is light.
5 Test Methods
5.1 Testing instruments
5.1.1 Steel tape or straight ruler, with a division value of 1 mm.
5.1.2 Gray scale for assessing change in colour (GB/T 250).
5.1.3 Weighing apparatus with a division value not less than 1% of the test piece.
5.1.4 Sample photographs for worsted fabrics (smooth surface) (TWC-W1 SM50).
5.2 Determination of appearance quality and quilting technique quality
5.2.1 During the test, the surface illumination of finished product shall not less than 600 lx, the distance between test personnel ocular region and finished product is approximately 60 cm. Finished products shall be tested by vision and hand feeling.
5.2.2 Determination of size deviation rate:
The finished product is flatly placed on the test bench, tidy up slightly by hand; the finished products in naturally expansion and contraction status, and measure, with steel tape, at the points of 1/4 and 3/4 at length and width directions; the measurement results to the nearest 1.0 mm.
