Coated fabrics - Determination of resistance to penetration by water
1 Scope
This standard specifies a method for the determination of the resistance of coated fabrics to penetration by water when subjected to a specific hydrostatic pressure over a fixed period of time.
This standard is applicable to coated fabrics, and it may apply by reference for other waterproof fabrics.
2 Normative references
The following normative documents contain provisions which, through reference in this text, constitute provisions of this standard. For dated references, subsequent amendments (excluding corrections), or revisions, of any of these publications do not apply to this standard. However parties to agreements based on this standard are encouraged to investigate the possibility of applying the most recent editions of the normative documents indicated below. For undated references, the latest edition applies.
GB 6529 Textiles - Standard atmospheres for conditioning and testing
3 Principle
A specimen of coated fabric to be tested is subjected to an increasing pressure of water on one face under specified conditions, until the specified pressure is obtained. Observe whether penetration occurs or continue pressurization until penetration occurs within a specified time period.
